Staff Career Achievement Award

Created in 2011 to recognize retiring staff members, the Staff Career Achievement Award is presented annually to individuals who retired the previous year and who distinguished themselves through exemplary performance and service during their university career.

Nomination Information

Recipients will receive a cash award up to $2,000 (pre-tax) and will be recognized at the university's annual faculty and staff awards reception.

Full-time university or classified staff who served a minimum of 10 years at Virginia Tech, retired in the previous year, and had a history of outstanding performance in their position are eligible to be nominated.

Using the Staff Career Achievement Award online nomination system, the dean or vice president will answer the following questions:

  • Describe how the nominee demonstrated outstanding performance in their position
  • Describe the type and extent of interaction/relationship with campus community, including staff, faculty, administrators, students, and off-campus guests
  • Describe the nominee's involvement with university-wide activities/committees
  • Please include any comments you believe would help the nominee be selected for the Staff Career Achievement Award

Nominations are submitted by the dean or vice president using the online nomination system.

Nominations must be submitted electronically.
